Jury Integrity/ Trial Jury Selection
Jury selection is where it all comes down.
Valor Investigations has selected many of juries throughout Texas, providing our clients an unmatched level of expertise.
Jury selection includes development of a jury questionnaire, analyzing juror questionnaire responses and in-court assistance.
We design a questionnaire specifically for your case. We analyze jurors’ responses to a jury questionnaire quickly and effectively, under the individual circumstances of each case. Valor provides in-court assistance during voir dire and jury selection, regardless of whether a questionnaire has been utilized.
Betty Simons, Valor’s CEO/Private Investigator is an expert in speed reading people. Attorneys face significant challenges when it comes to detecting deception and interpreting nonverbal cues in high-stakes legal situations. Without the ability to accurately read body language, lawyers risk missing crucial information that can affect the outcome of a case. Betty and her team can evaluate these non-verbal queues from your jury pool and give you the advantage.
Post-Trial Juror Interviews
Once a trial has concluded and a verdict has been reached, there may still be additional work to be done.
Often the attorneys have unanswered questions they would like posed to the jury. Or perhaps a post-trial motion is appropriate and juror conduct or rationale is important to such a motion.
In those venues where the court allows, Valor has years of experience locating, contacting, and interviewing jurors following trial. We develop a phone questionnaire that is unique, concise and comprehensive to each case. Investigators then contact each juror for an extended discussion of what was done effectively in trial, and what evidence was most important to their decisions. This information can then be used to set trial strategy in future cases, to determine which witnesses were most effective, and to assess the effectiveness of pretrial preparation.
Valor works closely with the trial team to develop a questionnaire that follows all local laws and regulations pertaining to post-trial juror contact.
Appellate Jury Integrity Investigations
In Texas, the first appeal is the only appeal that jury biases can be brought up, so you want it done right, the first time. We review the entire case file, including transcripts and jury questionnaires and work to find any possible biases or dishonesty a jury may have had at the time of trial that was not disclosed. Working alongside the Conviction Integrity Group, we have the expertise to reveal any potential biases of a client’s trial jury and hidden agendas, along with dishonesty.
